Mame Diarra Group's story

The Mame Diarra solidarity group was founded on December 9, 2010. It is made up of 26 women who are relatives and friends living in the same neighborhood. Small-scale retail is their main activity.

The group leader, Codou, is 40 years old. She is married and mother of four children. She has a small business selling various goods and breakfast. She has a lot of experience. She is standing on the far right-hand side of the photo, dressed in a blue boubou and an orange shawl.

During the school year, she sells breakfast to the elementary school and to the middle school in her village. During vacation, she buys fabrics and various items which she resells in her neighborhood.

She will use her loan to buy more goods and condiments for making breakfast in order to generate lots of income.

She supports her husband in the daily management of family expenses and hopes to become a great merchant.
