A loan of $1,475 helped a member to purchase soft drinks and groceries.

Unificada 2 Group's story

The “UNIFICADA 2” Communal Bank will start its first loan cycle in Pro Mujer as part of the Santiago II Regional Office. It is made up of six members and has a board headed by Sra. Martha. The businesses engaged in by bank members are varied and include selling food, selling woven goods and sweaters, a neighborhood store and selling woven blankets.

Sra Martha says that this is the first time she has joined a communal bank and that currently she has a business selling food. She has been working for years and learned the business from her mother. The loan in this cycle is for expansion of her merchandise (the purchase of soft drinks and groceries). She will buy these products from distributors and later market them in her retail space.. This type of work enables her to support her family since she is unmarried and has three children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she replies that she enjoys the training workshops in the areas of health and credit.
