Good business ideas and dedication are what characterize this community group called 'Dios nos Ama' [God Loves Us]. It is made up of 7 hard-working people who want to get ahead. The group was formed 2 years ago, when the members demonstrated that they had the desire to work together.

Leandra, one of the group members, is 40 years old and is married with two children, who are her reason to live. In the mornings she tends to the household chores and also watches over her small store. She has had the store for a year and a half; it is a source of income which allows her to contribute to her family's expenses. With the joint effort of her and her husband, they have been able to move forward and provide an education to their children who are currently both studying. They were also able to buy land in which they hope to build a house on in the future. With this loan she plans to invest in improvements to the property where her store is located. Like Leandra, each member of the group has their own unique story, but one thing they all have in common is their enthusiasm and desire to get ahead for the good of one another and for their families.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
