Gela's story

Gela is thirty-one years old. He lives in the village of Mukuzani with his family: his wife – Oliko, two sons (five and six years old) and his parents. All of the adult family members are involved in the family's agricultural business. They have one hectare of agricultural land. There is vineyard on 0.7 hectares and strawberries on 0.3 hectares. Gela produces wine and sells it in the village. He sells harvested strawberries on the local open market. They also own a milk cow. Oliko produces cheese and sells it in the village. Along with the above-mentioned the family has twelve sheep and sells lambs during the spring season. The total average monthly income of the family is 700 Laris.

Gela requested credit to purchase calves. He used to have cattle in the past and has a cattle-shed in his yard. He will feed the calves for five to six months and will then sell them in late spring for a higher price. The family will get additional income and improve their living conditions.
