Taku Liguey Group's story

The Taku liguey group of 11 members was created at the same time as the BV (Banc Villageois). It comprises women from the same village who share common social values, all of whom are small retail traders. The group leader Fatime is a 61 year old married women, she has no children of her own but cares for 3 who have been entrusted to her. Fatime, standing on the far left in the photograph, is a small retailer selling couscous, a business she has conducted for almost ten years - this is why she has a lot of experience in this activity. Her new loan of 90,000 XOF will allow her to buy 8 sacks of millet, to make couscous with, which she will sell in her village. The profits from her business will allow her to buy food for the children in her care, but also to have some savings with the the Banc Villageois.
