A loan of $5,525 helped a member to buy cattle.

Huayna Potosi Group's story

The community association 'Huayna Potosi' is starting their second loan cycle with 'Pro Mujer' as a part of the 'Centro Focal de Panamericana'. It is made up of ten members and led by a board, which Margarita is the head of. The businesses that the community association members are a part of are varied and include: selling vegetables, selling bread, selling food, selling gelatin, selling awayos (traditional woven cloth) and selling meat. Margarita told us that she joined the community association a year ago. She currently has a meat selling business, which she has been working in for years and learned the business from her Uncle. The loan from this cycle she will use to increase her capital to be able to buy cattle which she buys in the communities close by and sells in the markets. This allows her to support her family. She is married and has five children. When she was asked what she likes about 'Pro Mujer' she said she likes the life insurance. **Not pictured are Miriam and Gregoria, Mirian because she had to go to a medical appointment and Gregoria for cultural reasons.
