A loan of $3,475 helped a member to increase stocks of rice, sugar, salt, beans, wheat flour, fruits and pay school fees.

Kondoa Group's story

Julia, who is in her early forties is married with six children who are still going to school. She has been running a business called genge-duka (selling dry food and fruits on the same table) for three years now. She works from 7.00 am to 9.00 pm daily and is able to make a small monthly profit. This will be her fourth loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans to help pay school fees and household expenses, increased the gende-duka stock and has paid back all her loans successfully. She hopes for a loan to increase stocks of rice, sugar, salt, beans, wheat flour, fruits and to pay school fees. Her dream is to one day be able to build her own house. She will share this loan with her loan group "Kondoa" which has a total of twelve members who will hold each other accountable for paying back their loans.
