Etoiles Plus Group's story

Jacquie, aged 47, is the chairwoman of the Community Bank named “Etoiles Plus”. It is composed of 34 members united in solidarity for receiving Kiva loans with the goal of developing their businesses.

Jacquie has been part of the micro-enterprise world since 2002. She sells beans, and salted fish. Her business is located in the mid western part of Kinshasa. She is a trustworthy client of the MFI HOPE RDC, having two times obtained and correctly repaid loans. With her next loan she is planning to diversify her business by buying 1 sack of rice, and 1-25liter container of vegetable oil to resell at a profit with the goal of increasing her profits. Her business generates a profit of US$30 per week. Jacquie’s ambition is to become a wholesaler. She is a widow and the mother of two children whose ages are 9 and 21 years old. Both of the children attend school.
