A loan of $575 helped to buy farm supplies and to pay labor costs to plant corn.

Jose Benito's story

José, 65, is from Mata Palo located in Pueblo Nuevo, Estelí Municipality. He’s a farmer by profession, an occupation he’s been in for the last 30 years. He started this activity farming corn and tobacco through some friends who together raised capital and started to farm. Together with his four children they do chores related to field work thus supporting each other to get ahead together.

He needs the loan to buy farm supplies and to pay labor costs to plant a manzana [Central American unit of land measurement] of irrigated corn. With the loan he will have the necessary working capital to cover production costs and he hopes to earn good profits that will allow him to repay the loan and expand the area of corn crops even more.
