A loan of $375 helped to buy sewing supplies.

Carmen's story

Carmen, 40, is a hardworking, cheerful, enterprising woman. She likes new challenges. She lives with Abel who is the father of her two children who are 14 and 13 years old respectively. They live together with a nephew too whose education they support.

Carmen’s activity is clothes making, an occupation she learned from her mother when she was young and that now is her source of income; she works from home. She also is a seed merchant; she buys from producers and ships them outside the region on order. She has been sewing alone for ten years with no help from anyone. She believes that her business is quite profitable because the high number of customers produces good profits.

What she likes about her activity is that it generates income to pay her expenses as well as it’s an opportunity to relate to more people. She plans to expand and improve her business buying a semi-industrial sewing machine.

This would be loan #2 with MFP. She’s happy to know that she will continue to have financial support to advance with her business and make her business plans a reality. She will use the requested 1000 new soles to buy sewing supplies like fabric, thread, elastic and others in larger amounts in order to earn higher income.
