A loan of $1,425 helped a member to buy sheeting, bricks, light bulbs, nails, screws, hammers, paint, picks, and shovels.

Las Golondrinas Group's story

The Las Golondrinas group is comprised of four hard-working and cheerful women. They have been working for several years in order to be able to contribute to the household expenses.

The members are Concepcion, who sells costume jewelry; Candelaria, who sells clothes; Lucia, who sells cosmetics; and Rocio, who sells construction material. The group is located in a sugarcane area where most of the people work at cutting and growing sugarcane or as workers in the mill there.

Rocio, age 32, went to the university. She is married to Ivan, who works with her selling construction materials. They have two children. Rocio tells us that her husband’s family has always sold construction material. A little over ten years ago they decided to open a small hardware store. With the passing of the years the store has grown a lot. They have won over many customers thanks to the work they have done together. They open their business every day at eight in the morning until eight at night. Her business is known for its friendly treatment and the advice they give their customers.

She will use this loan to buy sheeting, bricks, light bulbs, nails, screws, hammers, paint, picks, and shovels to restock her business. She hopes that with this investment her business will continue making progress. She wishes to give her family a better quality of life.

This group is grateful to the Fundación for the support it has provided to them.
