Maiquel's story

Maiquel, 33, is a hardworking, driven man who very much wants to get ahead. He’s separated from his daughter’s mother. They live in his parents’ house with his mother, father and five siblings he helps support. Maiquel’s activity is providing transportation services and to do so he has three mototaxis that he leases to neighbors charging up to 20 soles per day. He started very young over 7 years ago leasing a mototaxi and gradually used profits earned to pay off that vehicle until he owned it. He then continued with the purchase of his second vehicle until owning three units. He also studied auto mechanics so he’s able to service his own vehicle and sometimes those of individuals.

He believes that his business is quite profitable because it earns daily income. He decided to start this business because he needed an occupation that would generate income and because he wanted to help with his younger siblings’ education and give them the opportunities he never had.

Therefore, seeing the good results he gets, he wants to expand and open a motorcycle spare parts shop. This will be loan #5 with MFP and he feels grateful for the support of being able to rely on a line of credit to continue with his businesses. He feels comfortable in his communal bank because he considers it to be a mutually supportive, united group.

He will uses the 1000 new soles requested to buy spare parts for his vehicles like tires, oil and others, for all three vehicles, so that they will be in operating conditions and be able to continue working generating more income for him.
