Julian De Jesus
Julian has been noted for being a very hard working person and always wanting to offer his family a good quality of life. Julian is married and father to four children, who have always been his motivation to work hard at his business. Previously Julian generated income for his family by working in the recycling sector, however, the serious health problems this caused him, made him cast this occupation aside and start to look for new sources of income. It was how he opened his general store, in which he provides a very good service and offers a great quantity of staple family goods. Thanks to this, Julian can generate the income that his family needs and preserve his health, which previously stopped him working. As Julian opened his shop with very little capital, he is looking for a loan which will give him access to purchase more staple family goods, with the intention of stocking up his business and offering a greater variety of products to his customers.

In this way, Julian hopes that his income will increase considerably, as he will be able to attend to greater customer necessities, and therefore he will have greater sales. Julian dreams of his business making progress and growing in the future, and of being able create work, at least, for his children.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
