A loan of $1,500 helped to hire day laborers and to help her children with their education.

Albina's story

Albina is 66 and is a humble and simple woman. Since her husband passed away, she now watches out for her two beloved children: Daniel, who is 24, and Joel, who is 19. They all live together in their own home. Albina is a very hard-working woman. Starting very early in the morning, she goes to her fields where she harvests coca plants. This product lets her get ahead and give her children a better quality of life. She has done this work for 37 years. She used to do it with the help of her husband, and now she has the help of her 2 sons, who help her with her efforts. When harvesting the coca, she has help from day workers, who help her pick the leaves quickly. Afterwards, she takes them to the buying organizations. This is where they pay her well by weight of the coca. Her future plans are to see her children become professionals and that they have a good stay. This will be her fifth loan with Microfinanzas Prisma, and she promises to be very punctual with her payments. She is thankful to the members of her communal bank for being responsible and supportive. With the requested loan, she will hire day laborers to help her fumigate her plants, and she will use the rest to help her children with their educational costs.
