A loan of $1,825 helped to purchase a mini (manual) tractor and fertilizers.

Kakha's story

Kakha is 37 years old. He lives in the village of Pkhvenisi, East Georgia with his big family: wife Tea, a five-year-old daughter, parents, an elder sister and his 80-year-old grandmother. Kakha’s wife and mother are teachers and work in a local school.

Kakha heads the family agricultural business. They own a small dairy farm with two milk cows. Kakha produces Georgian cheese and sells it locally. He also cultivates the family owned 1.3 hectares of land and grows tomatoes, beat, cabbages and apple trees on the plot. He sells the harvested products at the local open market. The total average monthly income of the seven member family is 1000 Laris.

Kakha requested credit to purchase a mini (manual) tractor for tilling his plot and fertilizers. He will save the costs, which he used to incur for renting a tractor for tilling the plot. Also, he will be able to rent his mini tractor to neighborhood farmers and get additional income. The income of the family will increase.

Kakha plans to reinvest part of the increased income into the further development of the family farm. In particular, he wants to purchase additional agricultural land. Also, part of the income will be used for purchasing necessary household goods, to improve the family's living conditions.
