A loan of $375 helped to purchase soda.

Fabiola Alicia's story

Fabiola is a young woman of 24 years old, from the district of Santiago, located in Ica, Peru. Her city is characterized by its economic development which has picked up in the past couple years. Its main factories export artichokes and asparagus that are purchased worldwide. The city is also known for the earthquakes suffered in the past few years. Through these terrible events, Ica, also known as “Tierra del Sol” or “Land of the Sun” has lifted itself and has improved in some aspects. It is in this city that Fabiola lives and works. She would have liked to become a great “Systems Analyzer – Quality Controller.”

Currently Fabiola sells snow cones and soda from Monday through Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays she sells her products at a swimming pool. She sells from 10 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon and attends to an average of 40 customers. She is confident that her customers will always come to her because she spends a lot of time making the fruit-essence syrups for her snow cones. She is thankful to her mother for her support that made it possible to start this business.

Fabiola has had the idea to buy more soda to have more variety to sell her products more quickly. It is summer right now, and the sun is so hot that the people of Ica constantly need refreshment. She has made a promise to herself to use the earnings to begin constructing her house, since that is one of her dreams. Another dream requiring a lot more effort is to purchase her own car.
