A loan of $950 helped to purchase land to bring on more pigs.

Miriam Gisella's story

Miriam is a hard-working and enthusiastic woman who is married and has three children, ages 14, 13 and 11, for whom she loves and works very hard so they will have it better than her. She lives in the district of Santiago, department of Ica, Peru. This district is known for agriculture, its primary activity, and the generosity of its inhabitants. In her free time, Miriam likes to play volleyball with relatives and neighbors. Like any good Peruvian she loves food, and one of her favorite dishes is ceviche. With a lot of hard work she was able to start a business raising and selling pigs. She gets up very early to feed her pigs and always keeps the pen clean. She dedicates around four hours a day to this job, and she also works in quality control at a farm in the district. She believes her business is going well because she raises the pigs in a clean environment and her customers are very confident in buying the pork. Miriam is very grateful for Kiva lenders because thanks to your support she will be able to buy land so she can have a bigger space for her animals and be able to raise more pigs. In this way, she will continue working so she can fulfill her biggest dream: see her children become successful, have her own home and have a tiny farm.
