A loan of $750 helped to buy a freezer for storing ice cream.

Andres Roberto's story

Sr. Andrés is a 58-year-old gentleman who lives in a modest home where he has tackled a few remodeling projects needed to complete its construction. He has earned sufficient income necessary for making these repairs. Andrés has been selling ice cream every day from a small cart for the past four years.

He started this business because he came up with the idea of having his own enterprise where he could support himself and get ahead solely on his own. Andrés previously worked on a farm, which enabled him to earn money and save toward what he needed to start his new business.

With the help of Kiva lenders, Andrés will be able to buy a few things for his home as well as secure a freezer to better preserve the quality of his ice cream. He is very pleased with the assistance that has been provided. Andrés will also be able to gather what he needs to open either a store or a pastry shop, as well as have a nice ice cream shop in the end. He says with a laugh, “It may sound funny, but I plan to accomplish what I set out to do.”
