A loan of $375 helped to buy a bag of pea seeds and a sack of fertilizer.

Juana's story

46-year-old Juana is a single mother with three children. However, she only lives with two of them as her eldest left home to go and work outside the city. They live in their own home in the small village of Cumutay, in Huasahuasi district. Juana is an exemplary woman. When the father of her children left her to bring them up on her own, she had to make a supreme effort to face her problems which were mainly financial. Juana has been farming for 20 years. She started out growing potatoes, peas and corn. Over all these years, she has learned about the weather and the diseases that can affect her crops. However, as she is intelligent, she knows how to deal with these problems. Juana also raises two donkeys and some sheep and pigs. In spite of all her responsibilities, she still has time to keep her home, her land and her pens clean. She is certain that her work is profitable but it depends a lot on the care that she takes of her crops and how she sells them. Juana is a member of the 'Lindo Amanecer de Cumutay' community bank and this will be her tenth loan from MFP thanks to your help. She pledge to make her monthly repayments on time. She is grateful that she can work together with her community bank because of the support she receives from the group. Juana will invest her money in buying one bag of pea seeds. She will use the remainder to buy organic fertilizer.
