A loan of $1,000 helped to buy cheese and soy milk.

Fidencia Del Pilar's story

The Rocafuerte Communal Bank meets every fortnight in the canton of Rocafuerte, a place renowned for the delicious and nationwide famous pastries prepared by the locals.

Here we meet Fidencia, 52. She is married and she has three adult children; of them still lives in her house with his wife and his young child. Her husband is a trader.

She is a very good housewife who runs a cheese and soy milk selling activity in her house: her customers come to her house every day because of the delicious products she sells. Three times a week wholesalers send her cheese form Chone, and she sells it POR LIBRAS in her small store. She works every day form 7 am to 5 pm; she works alone, she has been running this activity for 16 years and things have been going very well.

The loan she is requesting will be used to buy cheese and soy milk. She has been a member of this Communal Bank for more than 4 years, and she likes it because it is easy to obtain loans and because the loans help her getting ahead.

Her dream is to own a car.

The child in the picture with her is her grandson.
