A loan of $1,100 helped to buy fabrics, threads and other materials to create bed sheets and mattress covers.

Renato Carlos's story

The Rocafuerte Communal Bank meets every fortnight in the canton of Rocafuerte, a place renowned for the delicious and nationwide famous pastries prepared by the locals.

Here we meet Renato, 24. He is single and the house he lives in his aunt’s house. He is attending the eight semester of civil engineering at the University of Manbí, and he hopes to graduate in order to practice his profession for his family’s wellbeing as well as his own.

On top of studying he also engages in trade, selling bed sheets, mattress covers, bedspreads and pillow cases: his aunt creates these items and he sells them door to door, and for the most part his customers place orders he then fulfills. He works every day in the morning, as afternoons and nights are dedicated to his studies, and thanks to his activity he has been able to keep on studying.

The loan he is requesting will be used to buy fabrics, threads and other materials to create bed sheets and mattress covers. He has been a member of the Communal Bank for four years and he likes it because the interest rates are low.

He dreams of completing his studies and of practicing his profession.
