A loan of $1,125 helped to stock her business with natural medicinal products to sell.

Marta Maria's story

Marta María is the single mother of four adult children. She lives in the village of Aguazul in Santa Cruz, Yojoa. She has an 11 year old granddaughter.

Ten years ago Marta established her own business of selling natural medicines of all types, soap, and natural shampoo. Also, she asks to do examinations of the customer before she prescribes and sells them the medicine. She took advantage of a great opportunity to train in making natural medicines with a project that came to the community.

From there she managed to become independent with her business. This business motivates her because there is a big demand, and because she does not depend upon anyone else. She gets her own income for the household and her granddaughter’s education.

She has had three loans with ODEF, and with them her business improved a lot. She is currently requesting 21,000 lempiras to buy supplies and medications to prepare natural medicines and to always have stock. Her goal is to continue maintaining this business, and to make it grow in order to get the income needed for the household.
