Jean is a 55-year-old Lebanese married man living with his wife and three working children. He’s hoping to collect money and enhance his family’s way of living. Despite all the complications that he might face, Jean was brave and didn’t hesitate to open his own business. Ha started to work as a blacksmith in 1980. He’s a reputable person and has gained a fair number of customers so far. Today, he’s requesting a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to enlarge his shop. A larger shop will allow him to attract more customers and increase his profits. In the future, he plans to take more Kiva loans and renovate his shop.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
