A loan of $6,725 helped a member to buy new furniture for the beauty salon.

Los Girasoles Group's story

Paulina is 34 years old and married to Nicolás. They have two kids who are in elementary school.

Paulina tells us that some time ago she got involved with a group of people who asked for loans to improve their business conditions. She says that her group goes by the name “Los Girasoles” (The Sunflowers) since there are many of those flowers where they have their meetings and for that reason they use that name.

Paulina’s had a beauty shop for more than eight years, and she says that she has it in her house and that she began that business because, since she was very young, she liked cutting hair, applying dye, and fixing hair for her friends and cousins. It’s for this reason that she decided to study this profession.

She is asking for a loan to improve her business conditions like buying new furniture. She says that “even though the furniture I’m getting is a little expensive, little by little I’m going to change it out since what I have is very run down and I want to have a good look for my beauty salon.”

She says that she is very happy with the loan that she will get because she will have more clients and improve her business conditions. One of her goals is to work very hard since she want to expand her salon and move to a more central location in order to have more clients.

The other members of the group are Graciela, Sofia, Gabriela, Ysabel, Felipa, María, Sofía S., Anita, Marlen, Verónica, Juana, Teresa, Itxe, María Guadalupe, Juana, Ma Remedios, Raquel, and Mariana. All will invest in different businesses like a grocery store, material to make work gloves, an auto parts store, a craft store, cosmetic sales by catalogue, in a fur shop, and in a poultry shop.
