A loan of $1,475 helped to buy sacks of organic fertilizer.

Juan's story

Juan is 51 years old. He is married to Hilda, 44 years old, and they have six children but only two live with them: David (14) and Verónica (12). The home is theirs and located in the village of Santa Clara, district of Huasahuasi – Tarma. For 30 years Juan has worked the land. His primary work is planting different varieties of potato crops. But that’s not all that Juan does since intensive breeding of cattle and sheep is what he enjoys more as he finds hard work relaxing. He says that he fattens them up and later sells their meat to village neighbor in the city of Huasahuasi. His crops are in different areas, and that is one of his inconveniences since the ranches are in different hills and mountains that impede the normal movement or transfer of potato sacks to sell. He also grows peas because sales are profitable. Thanks to his effort, his whole life as a farmer he could and can support his family. He hopes to continue his current efforts and successes in order to continue working in the field because it’s what he likes to do. This will be his 12th loan that he’s gotten with MFP, and for that reason he mentions that he will be punctual in the repayment of the monthly terms. He belongs to the communal bank “Trabajemos Unidos” (We Work Together), and he feels comfortable having team-minded and responsible partners. With the money he will buy four sacks of pea seeds as well as a variety of sacks of organic fertilizers to fertilize his potato and pea crops.
