A loan of $650 helped to buy a sewing machine and supplies for her workshop.

Reyna's story

Reyna, aged 55, is a very cheerful and friendly woman. She was married several years ago and lives now in her own house with her husband and a grandson, whom she raises and to whom she wants to offer a better quality of life.

Reyna is a seamstress, working at home in a small but well-equipped workshop. Here she does commissioned work or, when she has no customer order, makes self-designed clothes and creations and sells them to customers, who are always on the lookout for new models and design garments to buy. Reyna has done this work since a very young age. She was taught the craft by her mother and has been in this line of business ever since. She works alone and is happy with her situation.

This will be her seventh loan with the microfinance institution Microfinanzas Prisma. She expects to continue her collaboration with the institution to pursue her objectives. On the other hand, she promises to pay off her loan punctually on schedule, just as she did with her previous loans. In addition, she wants to keep on working with the other members of her communal bank, because they are all very friendly and supportive people.

Reyna will use the 1700 new soles of her loan to buy sewing supplies to continue her work. She will also buy a sewing machine, because she wants to sew clothes with a better finishing.
