A loan of $1,425 helped a member to buy house-building materials for the construction of a family dwelling house.


Elizabeth Finda's Group's story

Presented to you in the photo above are primary school teachers from Koidu, a city in eastern Sierra Leone. This group of teachers has come to Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva.org, to apply for a loan. With the help of this loan, they will be able to pay school fees for their children, buy house-building materials, invest in business, etc. And at the end of each month, they repay the loan, using their monthly salaries.

The leader of this group of borrowers is Elizabeth. The 62-year-old is a native of Njagbwema in eastern Sierra Leone. A widow with four children, Elizabeth has requested this loan in order to buy house-building materials for the construction of a family dwelling house.
