A loan of $1,775 helped a member to pay school fees for his children.

Kemoh V.o.'s Group's story

Presented to you in the photo above are primary school teachers from Koidu, a city in Eastern Sierra Leone. This group of teachers has come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org., to apply for a loan. Because teachers’ salaries are usually small, they go to SMT for loans to buy or invest in things that their salaries cannot cover. At the end of each month, they repay the loan, using their monthly salaries. Their bursar is directly responsible for making the repayment on their behalf.

The leader of this group of teachers is Kemoh. Born in Kailahun, located in Eastern Sierra Leone, the 54-year-old is married to a teacher, and the couple has four children, one in primary school, one in secondary, and two in college. Kemoh has been a teacher for 26 years now and has requested this loan in order to pay school fees for his children.
