La Estacion Group's story

Victoria is one of the members of a group called La Estacion which is made up of nine very close, hardworking and kind people. Each of these people has an economic activity which he or she does to get their families ahead and thus give them a better quality of life. This group is located in a community which is described as being in a sugar cane region.

Victoria is 27 years old. She only went to primary school and she is a single mother of two children. The oldest is named Rodolfo. He is 7 years old and goes to primary school. She also has a daughter named Alexandra, who is 6 and in pre-school. She tells us that she has always had to work to get her family ahead, but a little more than 8 months ago she opened a small grocery store in a locale that she has in the front part of her house. She sells there every day from eight in the morning until eight at night. Despite her business being new she already has a lot of customers in her neighborhood who buy from her. She needs this loan to invest in buying milk, eggs, detergents, beverages, candies, oil, beans, toilet paper, napkins, cookies, soup, coffee and sugar to re-stock her store. She hopes that when her business is better stocked she can attract more customers and increase her sales and earnings and continue to invest in the business and give her children a better quality of life. She said "I don't like to make plans for the future because then they don't turn out, but what I want the most is to give my children an education."

This group s grateful to the foundation for the loan that it has been given.
