Gloria Santosa's story

Gloria is a very tenacious and enthusiastic woman. She lives in the city of Nazca, in the central-southern region of Peru. Nazca is a very busy city owing to the large number of tourists who visit the thousand-year-old Nazca Lines (ancient geoglyphs) every day. It is also known for its booming mining industry and its agricultural and commercial activities which are turning it into one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the south of Peru. Gloria is the mother of four children who she loves very much. They are her reason for living. Like all good Peruvians, Gloria enjoys our food very much and one of her favorite dishes is the delicious 'ceviche' (a marinated fish dish). Gloria only studied up to the fifth year of her secondary education but she would have liked to have gone on to study Business Management. Gloria's business is selling groceries. She works around 12 hours a day and can serve up to 20 customers. She believes that her business is doing well because she is very kind to her customers and offers good-quality products. Gloria is very grateful to Kiva lenders because, thanks to their help, she will be able to buy more merchandise and thereby have a greater variety of products to offer her customers. This will allow her to make more income and she will be able to continue working hard each day to fulfill her biggest dream: to finish building her home.
