A loan of $950 helped to rent land to plant yucca.

Aydee's story

Aydee, 28, is an enterprising woman who wants to work. Besides being friendly and polite she has many dreams about the future for someone so young. She lives with Julio who is a merchant and they have 3 children, 7 and 6 and 5 months. They all live comfortably in their own house that they bought with a lot of effort.

Aydee grows yucca. She has 10 hectares but she only has 5 planted with yucca. After it is grown, she will sell it to the merchants in the markets near her village.

She started with her own capital planting 1 hectare and then added more because of the demand from her customers. Her father taught her how to farm since that was what he did.

She feels that this business is worthwhile since it gives her a good income. Also she can offer work to others when harvest time comes.
She states that she started the business because she wanted to be an entrepreneur and have her own earnings and not depend on her partner’s income. She had good results and now plans on continuing the business and expanding the crops to 8 hectares. That way she will generate more earnings and cover other markets. This is her 4th loan with MFP and she feels happy that she will have its financial support with her plans. She promises to be punctual with her payments as she has been with the previous loans. She also says that she feels content with the communal bank since she knows most of the members and considers them to be responsible and helpful people. She will use the 2500 new sols to plant more hectares of yucca to increase her production, fill the orders from customers and thus generate more income.
