A loan of $550 helped to buy clothing and shoes.

Karen Elizabeth's story

Karen is a member of 'Las Flores' community bank. She lives in the city of Cuenca which is a World Heritage Site. Cuenca is well known for the beauty of its historic center, the four rivers that surround it, its cuisine, and the culture and traditions of its villages.

Karen is 33 years old and has three children who are 16, 11 and 4 years old. Her two eldest daughters are attending high school in the city. Her husband is a driver and he provides transportation services in his own vehicle. They do not own their own home. They live in her in-laws' home but independently.

Karen's business is selling clothing through catalogs. She sells all kinds of American clothing and also sells shoes. She works every day because her customers come to her home to buy her merchandise.

Karen is re-joining her community bank. She will invest her loan in buying clothing and shoes so that she can grow her business. Her goal is to own a restaurant and to carry out her profession as she is a professional cook.
