A loan of $1,125 helped to have maintenance work and repair work carried out on his vehicle.

Juan Elias's story

Juan lives in Parcona district, Ica, Peru. One of the main business activities in this district is farming and the area is well known for one of its tourist attractions, the 'Bosque de piedras' (Rock Forest) [large, scenic rock formations]. Juan lives with his partner and the couple have a 3-year-old son who is in pre-school. Juan's partner supports him in everything. She is his right-hand woman and always encourages him to do well, especially for their young son who is their reason for living. Like all good Peruvians, Juan really enjoys his food. One of his favorite dishes is the delicious 'arroz con pato' (rice and duck). Juan studied up to the fifth year of his secondary education but he would have liked to have gone on to study nursing.

Juan works in his own business transporting water in a tank. He works in his business for around 10 hours a day. It is exhausting, above all because he travels to relatively inaccessible areas where there is no drinking water. He believes that his business is doing well because he is responsible and, above all, he is kind to people. He also has patience with his customers.

Juan is very grateful to Kiva lenders because, thanks to your help, he will be able to repair his truck and have some maintenance work carried out on it. This will give him a safer vehicle and he will be able to continue working hard every day to make progress and fulfill his biggest dream.
