A loan of $375 helped to purchase bags of fertilizer.

Martina's story

Martina, 36 years old, lives in her own house with her 36-year-old husband Alfredo and her four dear children, and she wants to provide her family with a better quality of life. Martina is a hardworking woman and she is dedicated to taking care of her children, as well as working in the fields to cultivate coffee plants. She began her work 19 years ago. The most difficult thing to combat is not being able to fight the pests and weeds that affect her crops, but yet she continues with her work since it is the way to deal with household expenses. Martina and her husband are concerned about their children’s education and early every morning they head to their plot of land so that during the harvest times they will obtain good production. Ever since the neighbors talked to Martina about the MFP loans, she has not hesitated to take part in them in order to carry on with her work plans. This will be her first credit with MFP, and she has agreed to pay her loan repayments on time so that later she can receive another opportunity to access another credit. She is a responsible member of her community bank. With the $1,000 nuevos soles (Peruvian currency), she will buy fertilizer in order to maintain her coffee production.
