The Gbedokpo 2 group is made up of 12 people who live in the same area. This is the second time that the group is requesting a loan from ALIDé, in order to be able to raise their level of business activity.

Madeleine, the group's representative, has her hand raised in the picture. She is 43 years old and lives in Benin. She did not get a formal education. She is married to Edgar and is the mother of 3 children, some of whom attend school. Madeleine lives together with her children and husband, and she and her spouse share the various family expenses. In order to be able to to care of her needs and cover the household expenses, she has been selling corn and vegetables from her home for around a decade. She gets her products in a Benin market.

In order to be able to satisfy customer demand and increase her turnover and revenue, Madeleine is requesting, together with the other members of the Gbedokpo 2 group, a second loan from ALIDé. They have properly reimbursed the first one.

C'est la deuxième fois que ce groupe sollicite l'aide financier de ALIDé, afin d'élever le niveau de son activité. La représentante du groupement, du nom de Madeleine est celle qui a la main levée sur la photo. Madeleine est âgée de 43 ans et vit au Bénin. Madeleine n'a pas fréquenté l'école. Madeleine est mariée à un certain Edgard et est mère de trois enfants, dont certains sont scolarisés. Madeleine vit ensemble avec ses enfants et son mari et assure ensemble avec son mari les diverses charges de la famille. Afin de subvenir à ses besoins tout en assurant les diverses charges du ménage, Madeleine mène comme activité depuis une dizaine d'année, la vente de maïs et des légumes à son domicile. Madeleine achète ses produits dans un marché du Bénin. Dans la quête de la satisfaction de sa clientèle et pour accroître son chiffre d’affaires et son revenu, Madeleine sollicite ensemble avec les autres membres du groupe GBEDOKPO 2, un deuxième crédit auprès de ALIDé. Le premier crédit a été bien remboursé.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
