A loan of $1,225 helped a member to buy rice and livestock fodder.

Sagar Group's story

The solidarity group called 'Sagar' was created on July 9, 2011. It is made up of eight women; they are all friends and relatives. The primary activity of the group is small-scale retail.

Dieynaba, the leader of the group, is married and raising 10 children. She sells rice and livestock feed and boasts more than 10 years' experience. She is standing at the far right in the photo, wearing a long yellow dress.

She wishes to use her loan to buy a good deal of rice and livestock feed in order to satisfy the needs of her clientele and also make more profit.

Her goal is to be able to pay the living expenses for her children: their food, health-related expenses, school fees, and clothing.
