Maria Teresa

Ecuador
Ibarra, Ecuador / Poultry

A loan of $500 helped to improve her chicken coop, because it is in bad condition, and to buy more chicks to raise.

Maria Teresa's story

María is a 49 year-old woman who enjoys being hardworking, responsible, honest, and working to help her family get ahead. María lives with her son and his wife in the city of Ibarra.

María works by herself raising chickens for sale in the market stalls. She has been working with FODEMI for three years. The loan she is currently requesting is for improving her chicken coop because it is in very bad condition and the chickens are dying because of a lack of space. She will also buy chicks to raise them and sell them. This way she can have good income, which will help her to pay her family’s expenses.

María dreams of building several large chicken coops so she can be a wholesaler.
