A loan of $1,700 helped to finish the roofing on her business, improving the infrastructure little by little.

Ibet's story

Ibet is 53 years old and is a widow. She lives in the city of Barranquilla and has 3 children between the ages of 29 and 31 years old. She started her own business venture selling food, cooked meals and grilled meats. She started by offering lunches to her neighbors, and now her business has grown so that she has put a roof over her terrace to have a place where she can serve her customers. Her business is located in a commercial corridor that is well known in the neighborhood for having delicious lunches that are sold daily and grilled meats that are prepared on the weekends. Her business has grown because her current customers always recommend new customers, which has allowed her to sustain herself and make a profit for the well-being of her family.

Her Kiva loan is the second loan that she will receive through the 'Fundación Mario Santo Domingo'. The first loan she used to make improvements to her restaurant, making a covering for a large part of it. Now Ibet provides more comfort to her customers. Since the first loan that she took out she has increased her number of customers and has had to put more chairs and tables. With these new purchases she has made improvements to her location, giving it a friendly and enjoyable environment.

Currently she is requesting a loan which will be her first loan from Kiva, which she will use to finish the roof on her business. Little by little she is improving the infrastructure of her business and making it more formal. Her message to the foundation is the following: "I am very happy with the loan and the support that the 'Fundación Mario Santo Domingo' has given me and now with Kiva, to continue moving ahead with my business. Thank you!"
