Kandahar Group's story

Hidaya, who is in her early 40s, is married with three children who are still going to school. She has been running a business of selling Irish potatoes for 9 years now. She works from 6.00 am to 8.00 pm daily and is able to make a good monthly profit. This will be her fifth loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loan to increase the stock of the Irish potatoes, household expenses(hospital treatment and visiting patients,food for her family, emergency like going to places like funeral attendance) and has paid all her loans successfully. She wants a loan to buy more sacks of Irish potatoes. Her dream is to one day be able to build her own house. She will share this loan with her loan group "Kandahar" which has a total of 15 members who will hold each other accountable in paying back their loans. (One client was on the telephone so her face could not be seen.)
