A loan of $650 helped album recording.

Kurte's story

Kurte is a vocalist from the Roma minority in Bulgaria.    He began his career with a local group, the Kitka Orchestra.  He then moved around, working with the Lulugi, Melodia and now the Kozar Orchestras.

Kurte’s dream is to record his own solo album with the songs he has written.  This money is going to be used for the costs of producing his new album.  The costs include studio time, CD pressing and licensing for the covers he will record.

Lenders interested in learning more about the Roma culture in Bulgaria might find “Bury Me Standing: The Gypsies and Their Journey” by Isabel Fonseca to be helpful.  The book was published in 1995 and is widely available.
