A loan of $1,550 helped to buy nail varnishes, hair dyes and other beauty equipment.

Rocío Elizabeth's story

The San Pedro Communal Bank meets every fortnight in the neighborhood by the same name located in Manta, a town renowned for her beautiful beaches, visited all over the year, and for being a city of unparalleled beauty with many tourist attractions.

Here we meet Rocio. She is 37 years old, she is married and she has two daughters aged 13 and 11 who go to school. Her husband runs an aluminum and glass workshop. She completed her studies at a beauty school in Manta a few years ago.

In order to earn an income on her own, Rocio sells clothes of every fashion as well as providing a series of beauty services such as nail varnishing, haircuts, hair coloring and many more at her customers’ houses, making the most of it by selling her products as well. She sells on credit and she collects cash every 8 days. She has been engaging in this activity for 14 years, and she started it with the first loan received from the Communal Bank.

The loan she is requesting will be used to buy clothes, nail varnishes, hair dyes and other beauty equipment that she needs for her job. She hopes to set her own beauty salon in her house. She has been working with the Communal Bank for 14 years and she likes it because thanks to the first loan she was able to start her activity.

She dreams of running her own beauty salon.
