A loan of $1,125 helped buy land.

Edwin's story

Edwin is from Nazca, Peru. This city is famous for the legendary Nazca Lines, a series of old geoglyphs etched in the desert that surrounds the city. The Nazca Lines are attributed to the Nazca culture that inhabited the region from 300 BC to 800 AD. The city attracts a considerable amount of tourism. But Nazca is also known for its hard-working people who have overcome earthquakes, tsunamis and a high level of poverty.
In his spare time, Edwin repairs motors. It’s well-known that Peru has the most delicious food in the world and one of Edwin’s favorite dishes is rice with duck.

Edwin works as a taxi driver and works about 9 hours a day. In one day he can get up to 25 customers. He thinks his business is going well because he’s diligent and well-mannered with his clients.

Edwin is grateful to the Kiva lenders for their support. With this loan, he’ll invest in a parcel of land so he can build his own house. This will mean that in a few months he won’t have to pay rent anymore and he can keep working toward his goal of owning his own house.
