A loan of $1,650 helped to buy fish and clothing.

Liseth Geanina's story

Every two weeks the members of the 7 de Septiembre community bank meet in the city of Manta. This city is well known for its beautiful beaches which are popular year round. It is also a city with many tourist attractions and a beauty which is second to none.

Here we meet Liseth who is 19 years old. She lives with her common-law husband and the couple have two children. One is 4 years old and the other is a baby of 3 months. Her husband is a salesman.

Liseth and her husband sell fish. Three to four times a week they travel to the city's beaches, where the fishing boats come in, to buy fish. They take the fish and deliver it to different factories in the city. They sell it to them wholesale. Liseth also sells all kinds of clothing. She makes her sales in the afternoons when she has time free and on days when she doesn't accompany her husband to sell fish. They have been in this business for more than five years and it is a business that Liseth learned from her dad who is also in this line of work.

This loan will be used to buy fish and clothing. This is Liseth's third loan cycle with her community bank and she likes it because of the help that she has been given by the institution.

Liseth's dreams are to own a truck and premises she can sell her merchandise.
