A loan of $1,100 helped to buy fish, clothing and Yanbal cosmetics.

Lilia Egdi's story

Every two weeks the members of the 7 de Septiembre community bank meet in the city of Manta. This city is known for its beautiful beaches which are very popular year round. It is also known as a city with many tourist attractions whose beauty is second to none.

Here we meet 49-year-old Lilia who is a single mother and has four children who are already adults. She lives with two of her children, her youngest and her eldest. Her eldest [daughter] is a special-needs child who needs a lot of care.

Lilia is a very tenacious and selfless mother who has had to work very hard to provide for her children, even more so since she was left on her own with them. Her business is selling lots of products. In the mornings she goes to the beach and buys fish which she takes home, cleans and then sells from her home to customers who come to her each day to buy her products. She also sells all kinds of clothing and Yanbal products (beauty products, cosmetics, perfume and ladies' accessories). She works every day and has been in this business for 10 years. Thanks to her business, she has been able to get ahead in life.

This loan will be used to buy fish, clothing and Yanbal cosmetics. Lilia has been a member of her community bank since it was formed and she likes it because the loans help her a lot.

Lilia's dream is to make progress in her business.
