María Nelly's story

Every two weeks, the 'Leónidas Proaño' community bank meet in the neighborhood of the same name, in the city of Manta. This city is known for its beautiful beaches which are very popular year round. It is known as a city of great beauty which has a lot of tourist attractions.

Here we meet 48-year-old Maria who is married and has five children from her marriage. Four of her children are adults. Her youngest is 16 years old and in high school. Two of her children still live with her. Her husband is a salesman.

Maria is a housewife who, in order to make her own income and help her husband with their household expenses, sells natural products, Avon products and Yanbal products (beauty products, cosmetics and ladies' accessories). She works three to four days a week and she has a good number of customers with whom she leaves her products on credit and collects payment every week or fortnight. She has been in this business for more than four years and it is doing very well. The products she sells most of are perfumes and cosmetics.

Maria is requesting this loan to buy perfumes, creams, cosmetics and natural products. She has been a member of her community bank for five years and she likes it because the repayment terms are easy to meet.

Maria's dream is to see her son finish his studies and become a professional.
