A loan of $975 helped to buy supplies and pay laborers to sow his coffee crops.

Jose Raul's story

Jose is a farmer. He lives in an area called el Consuelo which is in Pueblo Nuevo, Estelí. He is 44 years old and has three children who are 13, 12 and 11 years old. His business is growing corn, beans and coffee. He learned this business when he was very young from his parents who also worked in agriculture. Jose's wife helps him with his crops and with the household chores.

Jose requested this loan to buy supplies and pay laborers to sow some coffee crops. He hopes to enjoy a high yield of good-quality crops from his harvest which will allow him to sell his organic coffee at a good price. He would like to continue expanding the area of land on which he grows his crops. He will do this gradually as the necessary investment is large and he would like to do it with the resources he has available so that he can work hard and improve his children's quality of life.
