A loan of $750 helped to buy ingredients to make corn cakes and corn tamales with meat.

Concepcion's story

Concepción is 60 years old and married. She has six grown children between the ages of 28 and 45. She lives with her husband in the Victoria neighborhood in Choloma, Cortes.

Concepción has been generating her own income for five years. Her husband’s income was insufficient, and she decided to make corn cakes and corn tamales stuffed with pork to sell. She gets up very early in the morning to prepare these products. In addition to selling the corn cakes and corn tamales, she sells grilled corn on the cob. She previously sold corn tortillas, but she saw how the corn cakes and corn tamales were more profitable, so she decided to make and sell them.

This is the first loan that she has requested from ODEF. She will use it to buy the ingredients she needs to make the corn cakes and corn tamales. She will buy things like corn on the cob, lard, sugar, cinnamon, meat, and spices, etc.

She hopes to get more income in order to improve herself and to help her family.
