Juana's story

Juana, age 57, is a single mother. She has three children, ages 29, 26, and 25. She lives in the Victoria neighborhood in Choloma, Cortes. Juana sells general merchandise like second-hand clothes, toys, shirts, and general merchandise (powder, toothpaste, combs, handkerchiefs, stuffed animals, and flowers, etc.). She got this business three years ago with the help of her sister, who gave her some of the products and a place to start. She is managing to get ahead with a lot of dedication and good administration. She has generated income, which has allowed her to keep working. She devotes eight hours a day to her work. Juana has had ten loans with ODEF. She is now requesting her eleventh loan for 15,000 lempiras in order to be able to stock up with merchandise like stuffed animals, decorative cups, and artificial flowers. Her goal is to buy a place in an area where she will have more customer demand.
