Halima's story

Halima lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is widowed with four children, and only two of her children go to school. She takes care of additional family members (grandchildren). She operates a beauty salon on a retail basis. She sells her products in a shop that she rents. She works seven days a week. She has been in this business for the last four years. She also has rental houses where she gets additional income. She has requested a loan of 700,000 UGX from MCDT SACCO to buy hair treatments, braids and weaves. Her major business challenges are defaulters and seasonality. Her goals and aspirations are to own a bridal salon. She lives in her own house and the family has access to electricity and piped water. Her major monthly expenses include school fees and medication.
