Las Autenticas Group's story

The Las Autenticas Communal Group will begin its first loan cycle with Pro Mujer [Pro Woman], as a part of the Villa Adela focal center. Eight women make up its membership, and it is run by a director’s board headed by María del Carmen. The communal group’s members run a variety of businesses, among them are: tomato sales, neighborhood store, video sales, cosmetics sales, food sales, and tennis shoe repairs.

María del Carmen says this is the first time she has worked with Pro Mujer, and that she became a member of the institution as a result of her friends’ invitation. Currently, she has a business selling vegetables, which she has been doing for some time, and which she learned from her mother.

The loan that she will receive is to increase her capital (to purchase vegetables), which she will acquire from wholesalers and later sell at her vegetable stand. This method of working will allow her generate income since she is single and has four children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responds that she likes the health center, the education opportunities, and the savings.
